While others have vented shelves, these feature integrated cooling fans which is a Cool Components exclusive! Not only are the shelves extremely sturdy, they also feature built-in fans with different configuration options as well as wire management features to help keep the system wiring under control!
This 3U shelf features 2 4-fan assemblies in the sides and two optional 2-fan assemblies in the bottom of the shelf. Each shelf comes with fan assemblies for the sides and the fans for the bottom are purchased separately. The fans can be configured to blow air onto a component, away from the component (recommended), or create a cross flow of air. The bottom rear holes can be used to move air through the rack towards the top if they are not blocked by the component on the shelf.
Beyond the concept of integrated cooling and solid construction, these shelves are a tremendous value when considering that it has built-in the equivalent of over $100 in cooling products. Additional value is created when adding the optional bottom fan assemblies since only fan assemblies are required, not complete units.

Installation is pretty straightforward but the only issue may run into is inserting the shelf into the rack with the fans installed. It may be necessary to prepare the fans for installation (insert the fan mounts into the housing...) and then just fasten the fans with the shelf partially inserted into the rack.
Ensure fans are oriented properly and there is an arrow on the side of the fans which indicates the direction of airflow.
Fans on the bottom are optional and purchased separately and should not be necessary. If the component below the shelf is heat producing the could install fans blowing downward but would strongly recommend running the fans very slowly to not force aggressively into the component below. The purpose would be to simply keep air moving... Another consideration is using the rear holes if they are not blocked by a component on the shelf. This way could cool the component below at the same time and direct air towards the top of the rack where air would normally be exhausted.
This Unit has a 3 Year Warranty
This warranty is to protect against defects in the manufacturing process and only applies to products used and installed according to manufacturer recommendations.
The products must have been installed and used as intended which also includes indoor 'conditioned' environments (harsh environment products are available for outdoor, high humidity or other undesirable factors).
Units must not be modified in any way and if changing the direction of the fans, ensure not to damage the fan which can occur by pressing on the center of the fan and is not covered under warranty.
To proceed with a warranty claim basic troubleshooting will need to be performed prior to approving the claim. If the fault can be identified then only the defective part may be replaced or serviced (for example, if the power supply is defected then only the power supply will be replaced). If the unit is repaired or replaced is at the discretion of Cool Components.
Item will need to be returned and advanced replacement is only available with payment in full which will then be refunded once the defective unit is received and inspected. Unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with advanced replacement which has made this necessary.
