It should also be noted that the majority of our fans use high quality, magnetic bearing fans but as time goes on, everything that has moving parts will naturally wear and we are pleased to offer our customers the ability to simply rebuild and renew the products rather than have to purchase a whole new unit. There are different parts to a fan that can wear and ultimately fail but the primary parts are the motor or the bearings. The advantage of magnetic bearing fans over ball bearings is ball bearings fans get louder as they age and in reality, pretty quickly. It is a linear progression with noise and this noise typically becomes audible with a year and unbearable in 3 years in applications where noise is a concern which is most residential applications. The reason is with ball bearings the spindle contacts the bearings as you would expect but with magnetic bearings, a magnetic field is created and the spindle essentially floats within that magnetic field so there is no wear and thus no noise. The products have been designed to easily access and replace the fans which leads to essentially having a new product and saving the cost and hassle of spec'ing and purchasing an entirely new product.
