Passive Cooling (Grills Only)

These grills are for increasing natural airflow. These products do not include assisted or active airflow - there are no fans or blowers, these provide a finished look and come in various sizes. While there are many applications to utilize passive cooling, one of the most common applications is for an air intake and using in conjunction with our venting products. When using a fan unit to exhaust air, a passive cooling grill may be used for incoming air.

Additional Considerations Regarding Passive Grills

Air Intake. With cabinetry it should be noted that far greater attention should be given to exhausting air than introducing air into a cabinet. With proper exhausting air will be pulled in from around cabinet doors and a significant amount of air can be drawn through even very small gaps. Pulling from around the door also creates a nice airflow pattern pulling air top to bottom and across the components...

Grill Size vs Air Flow. Consider that opening size does not have to match a fan footprint. What mean by this and as an example, the HiFlo products is roughly a 4x8" opening but a 4x8 opening would not be needed for the intake, a much smaller grill could be used. This actually also applies to the HiFlo Pro, the size of the opening depends more on the airflow (CFM) than the fan footprint and a 3.5" to 4" hole works fine for the HiFlo Pro.
