For Very Aggressively Venting Data Rooms or Closets or where Significant Ventilation is Required and Acoustical Drop Ceilings are Installed
The Ceiling Grid Vent System is more of a commercial or industrial product designed to aggressively vent air from equipment rooms or closets. The unit easily installs in a standard 2' x 2' acoustical ceiling grid and uses nine professional 120mm DC fans to aggressively vent up to 1000 CFM of air with the High Velocity version while the standard version is 575cfm (standard version is recommended in most applications). The fans are typically automated by using temperature controllers with various options available but the unit can also be ordered without controllers and set to run full time. The unit is customizable with the main options related to temperature controllers and the cfm of the fans. For example, one bank of fans can be the standard velocity fans while the 2nd bank the higher velocity.
The housing and fan bracket is constructed of lightweight aluminum and has an attractive white enamel finish (fan bracket is unfinished). The grid face features concealed hinges that allow for easy cleaning and service if necessary.
If noise is an issue, the fan speed can be adjusted to effectively lower fan noise. More advanced temperature controllers can also be used to automatically vary the speed of the fans or change the on and off set points if desired (review different options below).
The unit comes in versions with different control options, each unit includes the Ceiling Grid Housing, Fan Panel with 9 - 120mm Fans and 2 Power Supplies and control options as detailed below. The fans are divided into two banks of fans that are powered and controlled separately for redundancy and added versatility. Below are the different versions with the only difference being the way the units are controlled.
Different Control Options
Basic Controllers (VS-CGVS-BSC) - This option includes two Basic Controllers (TC-BSC), one set at 80°F and one at 90°F. These are on/off controllers meaning they turn the fans on at the set point and off approximately 2° or 3° below the set point.
Optional: Basic controllers with other set points can be used with options including 100° and 110°
Advanced LT Controllers (VS-CGVS-ALT) - This option includes an Advanced LT controller (TC-ALT-3FN) which is on/off, variable speed controller, and with this controller the fans are divided into 3 banks of fans and these banks are controlled with this unit. The controller independently turns the fans on at the set point and ramp up the speed of the fans as the temperature increases. The controller has 3 modes for 70°, 80°, 90°, 100°, and 110°. There is also an alarm at 115° or 125° and it can also be disabled.
Advanced System Controller (VS-CGVS-ASC) - This option includes the Dual Advanced System Controller which is fully programmable and includes triggers, contact closures on alarm... Typically this unit would be installed with equipment or on a shelf (it is not wall mounted)
Advanced Ventilation Controller (VS-CGVS-AVC) - This option includes the Advanced Ventilation Controller which is a high voltage controller and is used to control an outlet used to then power the Ceiling Grid System. An image of this is on the following page. This controller is on/off control with various features discussed in more detail on the next page.
New Addition. Also available is a AVC unit that is 12V DC versus the above high voltage format.
