The SlimSix is a slim versatile solution for bringing cooler air into or exhausting hot air to protect systems.
There are 2 versions of this product with one configured to exhaust air while the other is for air intake (EXT and INT respectively). The easy way to think about this is if the unit is installed in a cabinet or in a door to vent a closet, do you need the unit to bring air in or exhaust hot air? Its narrow design provides for installations in cabinets where space may be limited such as in the toe kick or top of the cabinet. Can also be installed in closet doors or any place where standard cooling products will not fit or where a slim sleeker look is desired. To add to the design, it is compatible with our existing passive grills with options ranging from decorative plastic to real wood versions capable of pleasing even the most discriminating tastes.
Constructed of heavy-gauge steel, it contains 6 ultra-quiet, magnetic bearing DC fans that silently move up to 65cfm of air. The fans provide for vertical or horizontal mounting and utilizes custom silicone fan mounts to absorb vibrations from the fans. The mounts also facilitates changing the direction of air flow to provide maximum flexibility*. This can be powered by a fixed or Variable Voltage Universal Power Supply, the fans can be run silently or more aggressively depending on the application - 5-7V for quieter applications and 9-12V for more aggressive operation. Additionally, the SlimSix System is compatible with all Cool Components low temperature controllers for automated fan control (TC-BSC/ALT/ASC/AVC-12).
Note: This unit is NOT rack mountable, use the Universal Cooler for Rack applications

* While changing the direction of the airflow is easy on most of our products, it is more challenging on this unit which is why we offer the different versions. It can be done DIY but proper care needs to be taken.

Installation Recommendations
As with most of our products, ensure to have a proper plan including ensuring are using the proper product for the application. The SlimSix is a slim design for tight spaces or for a specific look. The unit offers a moderate level of airflow so is versatile in regards to the amount of cooling that it provides.
Prior to installation it is recommended to bench test the unit just to ensure no issues may have arisen during shipping or unpacking. If using a controller is it also a good time to configure the controller at this point as well.
Give the planning and placement considerable time and use the old adage to measure twice, cut once. One important issue is to ensure there is adequate space on the back side which even if the fan unit has sufficient clearance, also need space for proper airflow...
The rest of the installation should be very straightforward with the full installation instructions which is available in the Documents section.
First, we apologize if there is a premature failure but we'll also do our best to minimize downtime and get the problem resolved!
We hate to start with such basics but if it's a new install, first check that on the cables and plugs that TIP is aligned with +. If that is correct and if using a variable voltage power supply, ensure the voltage is turned up to at least 7V.
The most common failure is the power supply so if the unit has stopped running, use a voltmeter to test the voltage from the power supply. Regulated power supplies will show a voltage close to the specification while unregulated will show a higher voltage when not under load (at 12V will read around 18V when not under load)
Another test and if there is a temperature controller, remove the temperature controller and plug the power supply directly into the fan unit to determine if the problem is with the controller (ensure polarity is correct).
If the unit still is not working after checking the power supply and ruling out the controller (if equipped), then replacement fans are required. If under warranty, please use the warranty form to contact us and if not under warranty then replace fans are available to make the unit like new again!
This Unit has a 3 Year Warranty
This warranty is to protect against defects in the manufacturing process and only applies to products used and installed according to manufacturer recommendations.
The products must have been installed and used as intended which also includes indoor 'conditioned' environments (harsh environment products are available for outdoor, high humidity or other undesirable factors).
Units must not be modified in any way and if changing the direction of the fans, ensure not to damage the fan which can occur by pressing on the center of the fan and is not covered under warranty.
To proceed with a warranty claim basic troubleshooting will need to be performed prior to approving the claim. If the fault can be identified only the defective part may be replaced or serviced (for example, if the power supply is defected then only the power supply will be replaced). If the unit is repaired or replaced is at the discretion of Cool Components.
Item will need to be returned advanced replacement is only available with payment in full which will then be refunded once the defective unit is received and inspected. Unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with advanced replacement which has made this necessary.
